All About Archie now available in paperback!

I'm thrilled to announce that there is now a paperback version of All About Archie: Bringing Up a Puppy and it's live on Amazon! My mum is thrilled she can finally hold a copy of her daughter's book in her hands.😀 This is all thanks to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. Through using its templates for both the interior of the book and the cover, I found the process relatively pain-free.

I found being able to order proofs was helpful, as I saw that the first version of the cover was too dark. There is also an option to buy author copies, which I intend to take advantage of soon. I'm planning to do a giveaway for one thing, and I'm going to approach my local book store to see if they'll take a few copies. What a novelty.

The cover is a bit different to that of the e-book, mainly in terms of the colours I used. I could have used yellow on the back, to mirror the yellow used on the front of the e-book cover, but somehow pink looked better. I do like a bit of pink.

It was an eye-opener to see that the lowest price I could have made the paperback was £2.99, which takes into account Amazon's cut, printing costs, and not forgetting £0.09 for me. That's why I have put the price up slightly, to £3.49, so I get a little bit more (although still not enough to buy a pint of milk). Now I know why paperbacks cost the amount they do.

I've included a collage of Archie photographs towards the end of the paperback. The same collage is available to see on this very blog. I couldn't put it in the e-book version - it didn't convert well, but it looks okay in the paperback version. Ideally it would be printed in colour, but doing that would have pushed up the price - too high I thought - and so I left it in black and white. The colour version can be found here.

I'm hoping that having a paperback version of the book will help sales, as I know some people still like to hold an actual book in their hands (my mum being one of them).

I've also been looking at other ways to market the book - more on this in the next post.

Until the next time, happy reading.😊
