Putting down some roots

So my summer travels have come to an end, and with the coming of autumn I have put down some roots, albeit temporarily, in Shropshire. Like I said in my last post, my husband and I wished to move further north, having lived down south for over a decade. Shropshire was never in our plans. I didn't really know the area, even though it's not a million miles away from North Wales where I was born and brought up.

We stayed in some holiday accommodation in the area, and found we liked it. And then a pretty cottage became available to rent and made the decision for us. Where we'll end up living long-term I do not know, and although we didn't move as far north as we originally thought we would, we're happy where we are for the time being. I'm a great believer in fate, so I think that for now, we're meant to be where we are.

I'm finding living in such a scenic place to be inspiring, and lots of ideas for stories are coming through. My current projects include my book on bringing up a puppy, which I'm in the middle of editing, and a brand new project! This project came about as a result of me pitching an idea for a Christmas story to a publisher, in response to a tweet of theirs. This was during the summer whilst I was still travelling. To my delight they liked the idea, and now I've been asked to send in a synopsis and the first three chapters of my story.

I'm a little daunted, but at the same time, excited. Now I've got a home base and have more or less unpacked, I'm able to concentrate on my Christmas story. It's an idea I've had for a while, and the setting is being informed by some of the places I have seen whilst travelling round the UK during the summer, as well as the cottage I am currently living in. I won't share the plot just yet, but I will keep you posted as to my progress.

Happy writing! :)
