It's time to start thinking about self-publishing my third novelette. I've received the manuscript back from the proofreader. Apparently I used too many dialogue attributions (she said softly etc.), so I need to go back through the manuscript and remove any unnecessary ones. Next, I need to format the text before I upload it to Kindle Direct Publishing. The cover is in-hand; my husband and I have already started work on it.
The only issue I have is what to call my new story. I did have a title in mind, which was Meet Me in Paris, but there are already books listed on Amazon with the same title. I want my title to be different - to stand out. I had a different working title when I was writing the story, which was Anna and the Musicals, but I don't think it works.
What is the novelette about? Briefly, this is a story about Anna, who is obsessed with musicals. She has unrealistic expectations of romance. She develops a crush on the leading man in her favourite musical (Singin' in the Rain), which doesn't bode well for her partner, Joe. Anna goes to Paris with some of the musical cast members, and on one rainy day she has an epiphany.
I did toy with the title, One Rainy Day in Paris, but having given the matter a lot of thought, I think I am going to call my new novelette, Paris Actually. I hope to release it early February.
